Black women were considered sexually inadequate which is why black men were said to perfer white women because they were easier and did all the things black women were considered to be too prudish to do. Even though those days are dead and gone, this is still one of Zane's best novels. It's a collection of erotic stories with black lovers. Some of my favorites are the one with singing telegram, the one with the boxing ring and the accountant named Gerald, the one at the bus station, the one about the shy girl with the split personality which became its own novel, and the one with the boyfriend who dumps his girlfriend because he's bored with their relationship so she puts on a disguise and gets buckwild with his best friend in front of everyone at the best friend's birthday party. I forgot the names of each short story but there's many memorable ones in this book. If you're interested in reading about black lovers getting their freak on, you'll enjoy this book and constantly return to it from time to time going straight to your favorite short story.
I had this book over ten years ago but later on down the line I started going through a dry spell. It gave me my inspiration......if you know what I mean 😘
I love to read erotica... The stories in this book are like 2 pages long. I need a little more meat with the potatoes. They are way too short and they say the same thing. Zanes method of sexual pleasure is the same in every story.This is a book you read with a partner. It is not a book that you cuddle up with and read from beginning to end. It has no substance. It gets down to the nitty gritty.Even in a porn movie you get a little scenario before the music starts playing.I grew tired of this book after the first 2 stories. I think that she needs to explore a little more. Get some new and fresh ideas or give her readers a little more story for each scenario. They are not bad stories but they kind of leave you hanging at times. I think the book lacks format and organization. Give the readers something to look foward to. Carry a few characters throught the book.I really thought Zane had it going on but I have yet to read any of her works that impressed me like Addicted.Girl u better get it together!!! Or writing will be a short lived career.
The book The Sex Chronicles is a book that is only for the open-minded people of America. If you are a person who is into old-fashioned sex, this book is not for you. But for people who love sex and are always looking for new ideas, then this is the book!!!! Zane takes you from a housewife who wants her husband to experiment more to a college freshman who loves to have sex with different men. Reading this book, I found a lot of the things mentioned in the book were things that I had already tried but it was still a great book. Zane's style of writing has a definite patent on it. It can't be copied. Don't hesitate to buy this book!!! Ladies, your man will love you more!!!
The Sex Chronicles is a book which promises erotic short stories featuring African Americans that will knock your socks off... and presumably the rest of your clothing as well. But I found it riding the edge of boredom. None of the stories were any more "erotic" than your standard Harlequin Romance. And, in fact, were substantially LESS "erotic" than the new Harlequin "Blaze" series of books. If you are single, I'd pass on this one. Or perhaps get it to have on the book shelf for those times after you've eaten 2 chili dogs and must spend lots of time in the bathroom. lol... But if you are part of a couple, I view this book as a nice addition to your collection. It's a good one to "jump start" you and your mate talking intimately about sex, fantasies and desires. Perhaps give you ideas or set the stage for amour. But take heed; the author seems OVERLY infactuated with the idea of breaking up homes and sleeping with men who aren't available. And being an old-fashioned, southern girl with high moral values, I just can't find the eroticism in stealing someone else's love. 2 stars is being VERY generous.
Oh Lord. What an amazing book. It's from Zane who is one of my favourite authors. I think I've read almost everything of hers and they are all great - as is this. This book however, made me blush. I loved it - don't get me wrong - but it's steamy. It's choc full of short stories that are a mix of romantic, risque and just plain hot. Valley Of The Freaks was good as was First Night. Wow. It won't appeal to the faint of heart, but if you are game and honest and love a good escapist read, then get this. It's fun and hot.
I am so dissapointed in this book. I've heard for years how fabulous Zane and her writing was but I must say, if I wanted straight porn, I'd rent it on tv. No real storylines. It was just awful. I couldn't even make myself finish the entire book. After about 3 stories...I'd had enough and the entire book went into the archive files. Hate I spent my money. It should have been on the $.99 shelf...definitely not worth more than that.
I was very disappointed with this. It sounds like it was written by a 12 year old boy. I found it dull and repetative. The lack of vocabulary is downright cringy. Each story a repeat of the last in a different setting. Ugh.
