In the spirit of full disclosure, based on my previous Amazon reviews, I was contacted by the author and invited to review this book. I was provided with a digital copy of the book to read.This book is as straight forward as they come. It contains 22 strategies you can use to declutter your mind. In his Introduction, the author writes: “One of the main things about this book is that it has useful and practical information. I have not included unnecessary fluff…†His stated goal for the book was to “help my readers in the most effective way possible, rather than give them a massive book with generic information.â€The book has 22 chapters, one for each strategy. In each chapter, the strategy is explained, accompanied by the author’s personal experiences with the strategy, it is linked to published research known to the author and any references about the strategy known to the author are shared with the reader, should the reader wish to learn more about the strategy.Obviously, there are more than 22 strategies an individual might employ to in an effort to declutter their mind. But, I believe the author has done a good job laying out these 22 strategies. I also found the book to be easy, engaging and quick to read.As a reviewer, my recommendation to readers would be to read the whole book through first and, as you read, note those strategies you might like to try out. I would then recommend that you go back and reread those identified strategies in a slower, more deliberate fashion, and maybe even making some notes about the strategy.You will get the most value from this book by putting your selected strategies into action. Try them out. Practice each strategy for 30 days before deciding that is helping or not. Keep doing those strategies you find helpful and stop doing the ones you find that are not helpful. Replace an unhelpful strategy with another from your list and try it out for 30 days.From these 22 strategies, I am confident you will find one or more that will help you declutter your mind.
This is one of several books on decluttering your mind that I have read in a row.I like the authors approach to provide 22 how-to's which you could try out in any sequence.It's a practical book that does not go heavily into the theory which in other books make it much harder to enjoy.It's been edited pretty well with only a small handful of typos and errors which is not that noticeable. So much better than others I have recently read.Disclosure: I was offered a free copy of this book by the author in return for an honest review.
I appreciated the underling perspective that permeates this book. This is not the usual self-help, "how to" of which there are many. Ultimately, it is other focused, the intent is giving both to others & to God. The principles that drive why's and how's are Biblical and are sprinkled with anecdotes and illustrations from the authors' lives. If you are looking for pictures, lists, "do this," etc., you won't find them here. Nor is there psyco- babble. But if you are willing to dig deep, commit to dinner change in more areas of life than a stuffed closet, you may deeply appreciate this book. I did!
I appreciated the brevity and concise explanations of the mudras and how they help the body and clear the mind. After working through the entire program as an overview, I was so relaxed and energized as to feel more peace and calm them most other techniques. I do wish there was a physical chart of the techniques and may make one for myself.Everyone should read this book.
What I really like about this book is how practical it is. Though I have read about many of the topics it presents, already, this is a helpful jumpstart to help you APPLY the ideas to real life. It is rare that a book can deliver steps to transform a concept into a habit!

This book addresses one of the essential components of moving from stress to peace in your life, namely all the junk cluttering your mind as you try to decide what to do first.The book outlines 22 habits you can work on to clear up a messy mind. They are all practical, specific and clear. They include simple meditation, exercise, dealing with negative thinking, stop overÂthinking, soothe your mind with time in the water, focus on what counts, relax, live in the now, use a journal and gratitude list, improve your health, clear your mind with sports and hobbies, laugh, have fun with music, take steps to eliminate worry, learn to listen and focus, take a nap, do one thing at a time and pace the information battering your ears and eyes. Carter lists benefits of each habit and explains how to do them.You can try one, a few or all of them. Once you start, it is my guess is that you will want to continue the process. It does take some time, but the amount of time you spend will greatly reduce the amount of time you waste spinning your mental wheels. Give it a try.
